Local Dentist Helps to Safeguard
Your Children and Raise Money For Charity
(“Toothprints” Dental I.D. for your child)

(Honolulu, HI) – News flash: As a parent, one of your greatest fears is that your child might get lost, or worse, be abducted. If such a situation were to occur, your prompt response – with photographs and other concrete means for tracking your child and making identification is paramount. Nationally, kidnapping and missing children incidents have made headlines. Tragic events have also occurred locally to our children. We all hope such situations never occur, but if it should, according to Dr. Wilfred Miyasaki, there is now a new tracking and I.D. method called Toothprints, which takes the bite impression of your child.

Like fingerprints, dental imprints are unique to every person – bite impressions can serve as an accurate method of I.D.  Dr. Miyasaki says, “Toothprints are important because few children have fingerprints taken and now the successful fight against tooth decay has left many children with fewer or no cavities – so no dental records. Toothprints capture saliva – making it an effective scent for tracking dogs to follow. Positive I.D. can also be made from DNA in the saliva residue on the imprint wafer.”

Dr. Miyasaki and his staff will be donating their time and expertise to create a Toothprints dental I.D. for your child and at the same time raise money for charity. Toothprints is a patented, arch-shaped thermoplastic wafer that is softened in hot water. When a child bites into the softened wafer, it records individual tooth characteristics. But, more importantly, it provides a scent for tracking dogs to follow and positive DNA identification. Dr. Miyasaki says, “Most of the contribution will go to PACT, Parents And Children Together. This is a private, non-profit family service agency which supports programs such as Head Start, child abuse and domestic violence prevention and treatment, and provides community children and teen educational programs throughout Hawaii.”

“Now you can safeguard your children, gain more peace of mind, and make a donation to charity, all at the same time,” says Dr. Miyasaki. Included in the Toothprints procedure is valuable information for parents on what steps to take if your child is missing, and who to call.
