Dear Friend, I'm sometimes asked, "What made you decide to be a dentist?" I remember going to the dentist as a child in Waipahu. I had a lot of cavities, so I spent a lot of time at the dentist. But I always felt, "There's got to be a better way." So my life goal was to make dentistry better for my patients. I wanted to stress prevention, to offer choices, to treat not only the teeth, but the whole person, and to create beautiful smiles. But most importantly, it also inspired me to do all I can to make my patients as comfortable as they could be. As your dentist, I realize that it is my responsibility to keep up with the latest developments in dentistry. That is why I take 50 - 100 hours of continuing education classes annually through two of the world's most prestigious centers of advanced dental education, the Pankey Institute and the Las Vegas Institute of Cosmetic Dentistry. I also stay in contact with the latest techniques and procedures through my association with a number of professional organizations. As the continuing education director and president of the Pacific Dental Study Group here in Honolulu, I am able to not only learn from my peers, but also have the opportunity to share my own knowledge with others in Hawaii and across the United States. Thousands of people are smiling proudly with the help of the individualized care I offer to each patient. The same people I see every day as a resident of Honolulu, where I have lived most of my life. Helping to change people's lives extends beyond the walls of my practice. For the past three years, I have had the privilege to lead the Hawaii campaign for the National Smiles for Life and Garth Brooks Touch 'Em All charitable foundations to help raise money for disadvantaged and seriously ill children in Hawaii and throughout the U.S. I also enjoy spending time with my wife, Gwen, and son, David, who is currently working toward his Eagle Scout with the Manoa Boy Scout Troop, where I am an active adult member. I also enjoy playing tennis on Saturdays at the Diamond Head Tennis Courts. Scouting plays an important role in my life. Not only does it offer me something I can share with my son, it also gives me the chance to have an impact on the lives of impressionable boys. To see these sometimes spoiled, uncooperative boys grow into responsible, helpful, confident young men who are excellent citizens, good students, and socially minded is a reward in itself. So why do I do these things? The answer is simple: I want to help make people's smiles - and lives - the best they can be. And that goal starts by providing you with individualized attention and care, so you'll be proud to share your smile with the world. Sincerely, P.S. - Again, I am very honored that you chose me as your dentist. If there is ever anything I can do for you, please don't hesitate to call me.
